Site Structural Engineer Responsibilities
The Site Structural Engineer responsibilities include managing projects, executing the job duties of site installation with the help of his team. He plans and administrates the work of installation personnel under him and works in a broad range of commercial enterprises.
Main Activities, Responsibilities and Duties
Site Engineer responsibilities and job roles include:
- Managing the sites and administrating the installation staff of the company.
- Ensuring the proper initiation of all equipment and machinery of the company and that of the clients.
- Being conversant with the tolerances requirements, structural calculations and other technical parameters after training.
- Coordinating with clients to ensure mob dates, timeframes, and installation schedules.
- Conducting site inspections to ensure all structural elements are built according to design plans and specifications.
- Reviewing and approving structural design drawings and calculations.
- Coordinating with the project team to ensure all structural work is completed on schedule and within budget.
- Monitoring construction progress and providing regular updates to the Service and Project Manager.
- Working closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to resolve structural issues.
- Preparing and maintaining project documentation, including progress reports, change orders, and construction schedules.
- Organizing materials and ensuring sites are safe and clean.
- Preparing cost estimates and ensuring appropriate materials and tools are available.
- Providing technical advice and suggestions for improvement on projects.
- Authorizing technical drawings and engineering plans.
- Creating structural models using computer-aided design software.
- Choosing appropriate materials based on structural specifications.
- Drawing up work schedules and communicating adjustments to crew members and clients.
- Gathering data, compiling reports, and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.
- Delegating tasks and scheduling meetings and training sessions as required.
- Tracking work progress for all running projects and reporting to SMs and PMs.
- Completing quality assurance and providing feedback to the team.
- Conducting quality control inspections to ensure all work meets required standards.
- Identifying and addressing potential safety hazards on construction sites and ensuring all HSE requirements are followed and maintained.
- Providing pre-start briefings and toolbox talks to site employees.
- Making recommendations on cost-effective and sustainable material use.
- Monitoring and recording extra works and informing the Service and Project Manager on a timely basis for claiming variation orders.
- All other responsibilities not explicitly mentioned above but are part of the project responsibility to ensure smooth operations.
- Depending on the company’s priorities, the job holder may be assigned other tasks within his skills and competencies and may receive third-party training if needed.

Competences
Technics
Proven track experience in mechanical structures and construction such as overhead crane structures, port crane structures, etc. Excellent knowledge of construction methods, codes, and regulations. Good knowledge of the steel-related construction market, technical aspects of the steel industry, especially in the crane track industry being an asset.
Language
Fluent in English; any other language being an asset, preferably Arabic.
IT
Good knowledge of the Office Package, including but not limited to Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc. Good knowledge of AutoCAD 2D/3D, SolidWorks, STAAD, REVIT or equivalent structural design software. Any other technical or management software being an asset.
Behaviour
Correct, trustful, proactive, team-work oriented, able to respect deadlines.
Travel
Expect frequent traveling.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Structural or equivalent. Any other educational proof of experience being an asset.
Experience
At least 3-5 years in management of projects related to Mechanical Structural construction.
