Job Purpose
The job holder, under the supervision of the Finance Controller Reconciliation and Tax and direction of the Manager Reporting and Business Support, performs highly professional accounting tasks within the area of assignment. The job holder is responsible for handling VAT accounting, compliance, reconciliation, and submitting tax returns to ENOC Group for an individual company or a group of companies in line with the policies and procedures as agreed.
Principal Accountabilities
- Tax codes
Provide guidance to users on the usage of tax codes after reviewing the nature of the transaction and origin.
Collaborate with the business and GFS for proper VAT accounting treatment on sales and purchases.
Support the Controller to pursue a data quality culture of capturing the right VAT information at source and minimal corrections. - Data for VAT calculation
Identify data required to support VAT calculation.
Coordinate with IT to obtain transaction details.
Analyse VAT transactions for accuracy. - VAT Compliance
Analyse transactions for compliance with VAT regulations.
Review coding structure in Financial Accounts for VAT accounting.
Highlight instances of non-conformities to control framework and potential control issues on day-to-day transactions for resolution.
Keep updating on recent VAT amendments and clarifications.
Highlight implications of VAT amendments. - VAT Return
Compile and compute VAT returns.
Prepare VAT return as per FTA guidelines.
Prepare VAT returns and arrange timely submission. - VAT Reconciliation
Prepare monthly VAT Balance Sheet reconciliations for VAT liability accounts.
Analyse and notify supervisor on observations of issues in VAT return for corrective action.
Prepare refund claims and/or voluntary disclosures within the prescribed time as per VAT regulation.
Assist the financial accounting section in areas of GL reconciliation to improve VAT reporting. - VAT Reporting
Prepare quarterly VAT return to ENOC Group.
Prepare and gather information to respond to information requests from FTA.
Prepare, extract, analyse and produce timely and accurate financial and statistical reports on VAT returns as required.
Provide input to the development of VAT compliant systems. - Audit & Professional Consultancy
Prepare information on VAT for internal, external, and government audits.
Prepare detailed VAT issue scenarios for consultants to review and obtain professional opinions for management to comply with FTA regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Professional qualification in finance (CA, ACCA, CPA, MBA) or finance graduate subject to below experience.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional experience in handling VAT tax returns in UAE or in other countries.
Strong communication skills and computer literacy.
Experience in accounting, financial software, and Microsoft programs.
