IT Testing and Quality Assurance Manager

Role Summary

The IT Testing and Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing all testing related activities during the SAP project lifecycle in line with industry best practices. This includes overseeing the creation and execution of test strategy, plans, ensuring alignment with project goals, and managing the testing team to deliver quality assurance outcomes. The IT Testing and Quality Assurance Manager will collaborate closely with project stakeholders and vendors to assure the implementation of highest quality standards, and supports a seamless and successful implementation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Strategy & Planning

• Develop and maintain the overall test strategy and approach for the SAP project.
• Ensure test plans and schedules are aligned with the quality objectives of the project and the overall project milestones and deliverables.
• Define and document the scope, objectives, and criteria for all testing phases, including unit, integration, system, user acceptance, regression and performance testing.

1. Team Leadership & Coordination

• Lead and manage a team of testers, ensuring adequate resource allocation and skill development.
• Provide training and guidance on SAP testing methodologies and tools.
• Foster effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and key business stakeholders.

1. Testing Execution

• Oversee the execution of test scripts and monitor progress against the plan.
• Ensure proper logging, tracking, and resolution of defects in collaboration with the development team.
• Validate testing results to confirm adherence to acceptance criteria and business requirements.

1. Quality Assurance

• Implement quality control processes and ensure compliance with organizational testing standards.
• Conduct regular reviews and audits of test documentation, results, and defect logs.
• Report on testing progress, metrics, and risk areas to project leadership.

1. Risk Management

• Identify testing risks and work with project leadership to develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure proactive communication of testing challenges and recommend appropriate solutions.

1. Tool & Process Management

• Select and manage testing tools for test case management, automation, and defect tracking (e.g., HP ALM, SAP Solution Manager).
• Drive automation where feasible to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.
• Optimize testing processes for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years managing SAP testing activities.
• Proven expertise in SAP modules (e.g., SAP ECC, S/4HANA) and their integration points.
• Hands-on experience with test management tools and methodologies.

Skills

• Strong understanding of SAP implementation and upgrade processes.
• Expertise in functional, regression, performance, and integration testing.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.

Certifications (Preferred)

• ISTQB/ISEB Testing Certification.
• SAP Solution Manager certification or equivalent.
