Legal & Governance is responsible for all aspects of legal, regulatory, and governance matters across the Mubadala Group. By working closely with each Sector and Division, we protect and promote the best interests of the company, identifying and managing legal and regulatory risks affecting Mubadala, its assets and its investments.

What Will You Do

  • Provide corporate legal support to the Corporate Services Platforms, manage and administer Mubadala contracts and support the Senior Legal Counsel with various tasks as assigned from time to time.
  • Handle day-to-day legal matters, questions and issues.
  • Ensure good corporate governance, in particular regarding the Company’s Delegation of Authority.
  • Provide sound legal and regulatory advice to the business as required, and protect the company’s legal interests.
  • Cater to the business needs and protect its interests by identifying and assessing legal, regulatory and commercial risks, and developing risk mitigation strategies to minimise exposure to uncontrolled risk.
  • Provide advice on contracts, and draft various types of contracts and correspondences in Arabic and English.
  • Review and/or negotiate agreements, contracts and relevant legal documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local and/or global laws, rules and regulations.
  • Attend internal and external meetings, as required, to discuss the legal and contractual matters.
  • Manage litigation or court proceedings for the Corporate Platforms where necessary.
  • Develop and update standard documents and terms of business, and continuously identify opportunities for standardization.
  • Identify opportunities for the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’, in order to improve business processes, and increase operational effectiveness.
  • Lead start-to-end transaction activities and teams (internal and external).
  • Support Senior Legal Counsel in the development, coaching and mentoring of team members, particularly supporting the achievement of the Emiratisation target by developing UAE Nationals capabilities.

What Will You Bring

  • UK, US, EU or Australia qualified lawyer with 4-5 years’ PQE in private practice.
  • 3 years minimum experience at tier 1 Law Firm.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is a requirement.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and structure effective agreements and contracts.
  • Proven ability to advise and guide management teams on legal issues with an emphasis on helping the business grow and operate with managed risk and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to create and maintain good working relationships.
  • Ability to identify and analyze complex corporate legal issues.
  • Demonstrates clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and results oriented with good project management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment under time pressure.
  • Strong drive to develop improved and efficient processes.
  • Organizes time to execute assigned tasks in line with Mubadala’s goals.
  • Establishing and developing strong relationships.
  • Learns about Mubadala’s business and objectives and works well within the Legal and Governance unit and the Mubadala Group by independently working on transactions and projects, from a legal perspective, and developing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Applies base knowledge to assist in the decision making and performance of a range of legal, governance and corporate related matters.
  • Able to take ownership of discrete tasks and understands their relevance in a broader context.
  • Demonstrates independent thinking and resourcefulness.
  • Develops an understanding and working knowledge of all relevant Legal & Governance Unit and Mubadala Group policies and procedures.
  • Efficiency in working with MS Office including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
