Job Summary:
As a Game Host at our Board Game Cafe, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent customer service and creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for board game enthusiasts. You will be hosting customers by selecting and teaching board games, facilitating gameplay sessions, and maintaining the overall organization and cleanliness of the cafe. Your passion for board games, strong interpersonal skills, and knowledge of various game genres will contribute to the success of our cafe.

Responsibilities:

• Customer assistance and game hosting selection:
• Greet and welcome customers, providing a friendly and inviting atmosphere.
• Assist customers in selecting board games based on their preferences, player count, and skill levels.
• Provide recommendations and explanations of game rules and mechanics to customers.
• Offer guidance and suggestions during game selection to ensure an enjoyable experience for all players.
• Game facilitation and customer engagement:
• Facilitate board game sessions, explaining rules, setting up game components, and guiding players through the gameplay process.
• Provide ongoing support and assistance during gameplay, answering questions and clarifying rules as needed.
• Engage with customers, fostering a positive and inclusive gaming environment and promoting friendly competition.
• Offer strategic advice or suggestions to enhance gameplay experiences without dominating or imposing personal preferences.
• Cafe operations and maintenance:
• Present menus to guests and provide recommendations or answer questions about menu items.
• Take accurate orders from customers, ensuring special requests or dietary restrictions are noted.
• Enter orders into the point-of-sale system and relay them to the kitchen staff.
• Deliver food and beverages to the appropriate tables in a timely manner.
• Ensure accuracy in serving the correct dishes and drinks to the corresponding guests.
• Maintain a clean and organized space, including tables, chairs, shelves, and game components.
• Ensure all board games are properly stored, complete, and in good condition.
• Assist in managing game inventory, tracking loaned games, and handling customer requests for purchasing or reserving games.
• Collaborate with the cafe staff to provide overall customer service and assist in food and beverage service, as needed.
• Events and promotions:
• Assist in organizing and hosting board game events, tournaments, and themed nights.
• Contribute to the development and execution of promotional activities to attract new customers and engage existing patrons.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to create social media content related to board game recommendations, tips, and event announcements.
• Knowledge and continuous learning:
• Stay up to date with the latest board game releases, trends, and industry news.
• Expand your knowledge of various board game genres, mechanics, and designers.
• Continuously develop expertise in teaching game rules and strategies effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Passion for board games and a good understanding of various board game genres and mechanics.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to learn and teach complex game rules effectively.
• Patience and enthusiasm to assist customers of different age groups and gaming experience levels.
