1. Lead or assist and train in aquatic programming and swim lessons Lead or assist in aquatic programming and swim lessons.
2. Train other lifeguards and work within the team leading by example, ensuring that the all health and safety legislation and codes of practice are adhered to at all times.
3. Check that all RESCUE EQUIPMENT is in working order and in the correct position. If it is not, rectify the situation with assistance from the head lifeguard/pools if necessary.
4. Make sure First aid box/trauma bag is fully stocked and available.
5. Guide and trained staff how to use the Life Guard Equipment with proper documentation.
6. Complete INJURED PERSON REPORT for all incident.
7. All equipment should be checked on a daily basis at the beginning, during and at the end of the day as appropriate.
8. All areas and equipment should be free from defects and hazards. Should there be a defect, then resolve it immediately.
9. You may need the help of the duty engineer or equipment supplier. Should the defect constitute a serious health and/or safety risk then inform the lifeguard supervisor or Leisure manager and do not allow guests to use the facilities if it’s not safe to do so.
10. Make an entry in the POOL LOG BOOK and ensure that the pool / Leisure Manager is aware of the problem.
11. Pools should be equipped with the following RESCUE EQUIPMENT as a minimum: emergency / drowning alarm; first aid box / trauma bag; spine board; emergency telephone; life ring; rescue pole; torpedo buoys; throw bags.
12. All lifeguards should carry a whistle and a BUM BAG containing essential first aid supplies.
13. Lifeguards should check that the emergency telephone and rescue equipment available and in working condition.
14. They must check the pool and surrounding area from different location every time they come back from or after a break.

16. Ensure Guests are aware of all services and activities available at the pool.
17. Ensure that proper pool testing has taken place prior to Guests using the facility.
18. Ensure all Guests are registered prior to using the pool and are aware of the rules and regulations of the facility.
19. Makes sure the swimming pool is clean and constantly monitors swimming pool activity.
20. Ensure the sun loungers are clean, umbrellas are in working shape and, in the correct position and proper working condition.
21. Ensures that the umbrellas are fixed properly to their units and ensures that when the umbrellas are not in use, they are tidied down for safety precautions.
22. Explain to the guests about the services and activities available at the pool.
23. Use appropriate rescue techniques if observing swimmers in need of assistance.
24. Observe the swimming area for dangerous conditions, unusual or unsafe activities, and swimmers who are struggling.
25. Caution swimmers regarding unsafe areas.
26. Restrict guest from using any kind of glassware near the pool area.
27. Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administer first aid.
28. Provide swimming lessons and training when requested by the guest.
29. Be aware of possible situations where guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager.
30. To regularly check the temperature of the pool to ensure they are at set standard.
31. Assist in the cleanliness and the daily upkeep of the pool area.
32. Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service.
33. Provide a high level of Guest satisfaction and safety through effective communication.
34. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, attend and complete safety training and certifications as required by the management.
35. Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
36. Follow DMP policies and procedures at all times and proper grooming and personal appearance to be maintained.
