The role of a Business Development Manager (BDM) for a Corporate Service Provider (CSP) in Dubai typically involves driving growth, client acquisition, and expanding the company’s footprint in the highly competitive corporate services sector. Below are the key job requirements and skills:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
- An MBA or similar advanced degree can be an advantage, especially in senior roles.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management, ideally within a CSP or a similar service-based industry (such as legal, finance, or consulting).
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets, especially in the UAE or the GCC region.
- Prior experience in Dubai's business ecosystem is essential due to the complex regulatory environment.
Industry Knowledge:
- Deep understanding of corporate services like company formation, tax structuring, compliance, legal services, and corporate governance, especially for offshore, onshore, and free zone companies.
- Familiarity with UAE-specific regulations, such as DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre) and ADGM (Abu Dhabi Global Market).
- Knowledge of how CSPs support international businesses, especially in tax-efficient jurisdictions.
Sales and Networking Skills:
- Client acquisition and retention: Ability to identify, pursue, and maintain strong client relationships.
- Strong networking skills to engage with entrepreneurs, investors, high-net-worth individuals, and legal/financial professionals in Dubai.
- Developing partnerships with law firms, banks, and other service providers for referral business.
Communication and Negotiation:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with C-suite executives and business owners.
- Strong negotiation skills to close deals and structure agreements.
- Fluent in English; Arabic or other languages (like French or Russian) can be a plus.
Strategic Planning and Market Research:
- Ability to analyse market trends, identify opportunities, and devise strategies to enter new markets or industries.
- Conduct market research to understand clients’ needs and how the company's services can address them.
- Strategic mindset to assess growth opportunities in emerging industries like fintech, crypto, and green energy in Dubai.
Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the regulatory frameworks for corporate services in the UAE, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Customer (KYC), and Economic Substance Regulations (ESR).
- Experience in ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations for company formation and corporate governance.
Tech and CRM Skills:
- Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems like Salesforce, HubSpot, or Zoho to track leads, manage pipelines, and optimize sales processes.
- Basic understanding of digital marketing strategies to attract clients via online channels, SEO, or social media is a MUST.
Leadership and Teamwork:
- Ability to lead and motivate teams, especially in aligning sales and marketing efforts.
- Collaborating with internal teams such as legal, compliance, and finance to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
Adaptability and Cultural Awareness:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and multicultural environment, adapting to Dubai’s diverse business landscape.
- Strong understanding of the local culture and business etiquette, as well as sensitivity to the needs of international clients.
Financial Acumen:
- Strong understanding of financials, including budgets, revenue forecasting, and pricing models for corporate services.
- Ability to assess the financial viability of clients and structure services accordingly.
Entrepreneurial Spirit:
- Proactive and self-driven to identify opportunities for growth and overcome challenges.
- A strong entrepreneurial mindset to identify untapped niches in Dubai’s dynamic market.
- UAE driver's license is a must
