Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for firefighting systems in oil and gas facilities, based on technical specifications and project documentation
Scope of Work Analysis: Review project documentation and collaborate with the engineering team to define scope for firefighting systems, ensuring alignment with safety standards and project objectives
Material and Labor Estimation: Identify and calculate quantities of materials, equipment, and labor for firefighting system installation, considering unique oil and gas industry challenges
Vendor Coordination: Engage with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors in the oil and gas sector to gather quotations and assess feasibility of materials and services
Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for firefighting systems, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining industry safety and regulatory compliance
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks (safety hazards, operational disruptions, cost overruns) affecting project costs or timelines in the oil and gas sector
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure firefighting system designs and estimates comply with relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., NFPA, API, ASME), and local regulations
Technical Support: Provide ongoing technical support throughout the project lifecycle (design, procurement, construction, commissioning) to meet safety and operational requirements
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of estimates, design revisions, and communications to ensure compliance with audit trails and reporting requirements
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
Proven experience in estimating firefighting systems for oil and gas projects, including upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.
Strong knowledge of fire protection engineering principles specific to the oil and gas sector.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes for fire safety in the oil and gas industry (e.g., NFPA, API, OSHA).
Proficiency in estimation software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, Estimating software).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, especially with vendors and stakeholders in the oil and gas industry. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines and budgets.
