The incumbent is responsible for assuring that maintenance work is completed as per the maintenance plan. The incumbent should control maintenance work and communicate with the maintenance supervisor and maintenance engineer, updating them daily on the maintenance work plan and spare parts.
• Mechanical knowledge of trucks, earth moving equipment, and loading equipment.
• Attend breakdowns, identify faults, and problem-solve with minimal downtime to production.
• Carry out diagnosis of faults, maintenance, and repairs to all production machines in a safe, timely, and professional manner, returning machines to operational service. Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults, and concerns to management.
• Monitor machines such as wheel loaders, dozers, compactors, forklifts, and chain excavators.
• Assist with mechanical installations as required.
• Identify malfunctions in engines, drive trains, brake systems, hydraulics, and basic electrical systems, and carry out repairs.
• Clean and lubricate gears, shafts, bearings, and other equipment parts.
• Knowledge in spare parts, troubleshooting, maintenance work, and repairing of all equipment and tools in the project.
• Knowledge in hydraulic systems.
• Ability to communicate with clarity and demonstrate excellence in approach to work and people activities.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
