Broadcast Engineer
Job description
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Engineering Manager in overseeing daily broadcast engineering operations.
- Set up, configure, operate, and maintain electronic broadcast equipment, including HD/UHD video, audio, and communication systems.
- Manage and troubleshoot Radio Frequency (RF) equipment and antenna systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues at a system level while coordinating with manufacturers for technical support.
- Conduct site surveys, execute project plans, and ensure timely completion of technical installations.
- Keep broadcast equipment updated with the latest software releases from manufacturers.
- Ensure all broadcast equipment meets industry safety and operational standards.
- Stay up to date with the latest broadcasting technologies and implement them within operations.
- Lead and mentor assistant engineers and system integrators on technical projects.
- Draft detailed reports on fieldwork, workflow improvements, and engineering processes.
- Prepare and amend technical documents for projects and ensure compliance throughout.
- Participate in technical meetings and contribute to strategic engineering discussions.
- Be flexible with work schedules and willing to travel as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in television broadcasting, preferably in an Outside Broadcast environment.
- Proficiency in configuring and programming routers, switchers, tally systems, and multiviewers.
- Experience with the setup and integration of professional broadcast cameras, lenses, and CCUs.
- Hands-on expertise with EVS equipment, including LSM, X-File, X-Hub, and IP Director.
- Relevant engineering qualifications or a proven track record in the broadcasting industry.
- Strong understanding of radio, television, transmission systems, and signal carriers.
- Knowledge of IT networking, servers, and broadcast technology infrastructure.
- A passion for the evolving world of broadcast engineering and live media production.
- Familiarity with Cisco switches and IP technology is a plus.
