Roles and Responsibilities

As an Entertainment Technical Technician, you are an essential member of the entertainment team responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of various events, shows, and entertainment experiences within a theme park. Your primary focus will be on maintaining and troubleshooting technical equipment and systems related to entertainment offerings, including audio, video, lighting, special effects, animatronics, and digital signage, and any other show/entertainment experience equipment as required. Reporting to the shift lead, either a Team Leader or Senior Technician, you will work closely with performers, stage managers, and other technical staff to deliver memorable and immersive experiences for park guests while adhering to safety standards and operational protocols.


JOB SCOPE
Technical Support:
  1. Take an active role in setting up, operating, and maintaining audio, video, and lighting equipment, and technical operations.
  2. Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time, ensuring minimal disruption to live shows & events and daily operations.
  3. Support production teams and event sales teams to meet technical requirements and ensure smooth operations of shows and events.

Quality Assurance:
  1. Follow best practices for equipment setup, operation, and safety whilst adhering to the business's safety requirements.
  2. Conduct quality checks as required by the Maintenance Management System to maintain high standards of maintenance and operation and report any issues in a timely fashion.

Reporting:
  1. Report any issues that occur in a timely fashion to the shift supervisor.

Collaboration:
  1. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment within the Entertainment technical team, supporting and guiding each other along with new team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience working with audio, video, lighting, and special effects equipment in a live entertainment or event production environment.
  • Technical Maintenance and Troubleshooting.
  • Show, event, and Entertainment Experiences Support
  • Safety Compliant

An Entertainment Technician plays a crucial role in the technical and operational aspects of live performances, events, or entertainment productions. They are responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating various equipment used in live entertainment settings, such as lighting, sound, video, special effects, and rigging. This role may be found in environments like theaters, concert venues, theme parks, film and television sets, and event spaces.

Key Responsibilities of an Entertainment Technician:

1. Technical Setup and Operation

  1. Lighting Systems: Set up and operate lighting rigs, including stage lights, spotlights, floodlights, and automated lighting systems. Ensure proper lighting effects to enhance the mood, ambiance, and visibility of the performance.
  2. Sound Systems: Install and manage audio equipment, such as microphones, speakers, soundboards, and mixers. Ensure high-quality sound for performances, adjusting levels and frequencies as needed.
  3. Video Systems: Operate video projectors, LED screens, and cameras for live events, broadcasts, or stage performances. Set up projections or video effects for visual storytelling.
  4. Special Effects (SFX): Set up and control special effects such as smoke machines, pyrotechnics, fog machines, and other mechanical effects.
  5. Rigging and Staging: Assist with rigging equipment, such as hoists, scaffolding, and stage props, ensuring that all elements are safely secured for performances.

2. Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  1. Equipment Troubleshooting: Identify and solve technical problems during performances, such as issues with sound, lighting, or video equipment. Be ready to make quick fixes to prevent disruptions.
  2. Preventative Maintenance: Regularly inspect, maintain, and test technical equipment to ensure it is functioning properly before and during events.
  3. Safety Checks: Ensure that all equipment is installed and operated according to safety standards and protocols, minimizing risks during events.

3. Event Support and Coordination

  1. Technical Rehearsals: Participate in rehearsals to test and adjust equipment, ensuring everything is prepared for the performance. Work closely with directors, stage managers, and performers to coordinate technical requirements.
  2. Event Execution: Operate equipment during live events, including adjusting lighting, sound, or special effects in real-time according to the performance or event schedule.
  3. Collaboration with Teams: Work with other technical staff, such as stagehands, lighting designers, audio engineers, and video operators, to ensure smooth production and delivery of entertainment.
