Automation Engineer
Job description
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with process engineers and other stakeholders to understand system requirements.
- Write, test, and debug PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) code and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) applications.
- Configure and program industrial robots, sensors, and other automation devices.
- Integrate automated systems with existing manufacturing equipment.
- Commission and test automation solutions to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation improvements.
- Implement upgrades and modifications to enhance system performance.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with automated systems promptly.
- Establish preventive maintenance procedures to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, engineering, and IT, to achieve project goals.
- Provide technical support to production teams as needed.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems, including design specifications, manuals, and change logs.
- Ensure that automated systems comply with safety standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with safety and compliance teams to conduct risk assessments.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, automation engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in industrial automation, PLC programming, and HMI development.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or function block diagram.
- Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
- Familiarity with robotic systems and their programming (e.g., robotic arms, SCARA robots).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of safety standards and practices in industrial automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
