Desired Candidate Profile
1. Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN)
Knowledge of SEN: Deep understanding of various conditions such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), emotional and behavioral difficulties, and physical disabilities.
Familiarity with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and how to tailor teaching to students' specific needs.
Knowledge of assistive technologies and how to use them effectively to support learning.
2. Differentiated Instruction
Ability to modify teaching methods, materials, and assessments to suit the varying abilities and needs of students with SEN.
Providing alternative learning strategies, resources, and activities that meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
Developing personalized learning plans and adapting the general curriculum to make it accessible for all students.
3. Classroom Management
Managing a diverse classroom with students who have different learning needs, ensuring a structured and supportive environment.
Implementing strategies for managing challenging behavior, ensuring students remain focused and engaged in their learning.
Creating an inclusive, positive, and nurturing classroom culture that promotes respect, understanding, and cooperation.
4. Collaboration and Teamwork
Collaborating with Teachers: Working closely with subject teachers to modify curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students with SEN.
Teamwork: Coordinating with other SEN staff, teaching assistants, parents, and external professionals (e.g., therapists, counselors) to provide holistic support for students.
Regular Communication: Providing feedback to teachers, parents, and school leadership on students' progress and challenges.
5. Adaptability and Flexibility
Adapting to the evolving needs of students, modifying strategies, and being open to trying different teaching approaches.
