Roles and Responsibilities
Chemical Laboratory:
- Used for conducting experiments involving chemical reactions, analysis, and synthesis of materials.
- Common in pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and food industry research.
Biological Laboratory (Bio Lab):
- Used for studying living organisms, cells, tissues, and their biochemical processes.
- Common in microbiology, genetics, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical research.
Medical Laboratory:
- Focuses on analyzing clinical samples (blood, urine, etc.) to assist in diagnosing diseases.
- Includes pathology labs, clinical laboratories, and research labs for medical innovations.
Physics Laboratory:
- Used for experimenting with physical phenomena, including measurements of physical properties.
- Common in academic and research settings focused on materials science, quantum mechanics, or nuclear research.
Environmental Laboratory:
- Used to analyze environmental samples (air, water, soil) for pollutants or other ecological parameters.
- Often seen in environmental science, waste management, or climate research.
Forensic Laboratory:
- Applied in criminal investigations, focusing on the analysis of evidence such as fingerprints, DNA, and toxic substances.
- Common in law enforcement and criminology.
Food and Beverage Laboratory:
- Focuses on testing and ensuring the quality and safety of food products.
- Includes testing for microbial contamination, nutritional content, and food safety standards.
Laboratory Technician:
- Supports the laboratory team by performing routine tests, maintaining lab equipment, preparing samples, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Key skills include attention to detail, technical proficiency, and knowledge of laboratory procedures.
Laboratory Scientist/Researcher:
- Conducts experiments and research to explore hypotheses or develop new products or solutions.
- Typically requires higher education (e.g., Master’s or Ph.D.) and expertise in a specific scientific field.
Desired Candidate Profile
The post holder is required to rotate across administrative and clinical based functions.
- Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team and highlight any urgent results as per procedure guidelines.
- Prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing and maintain clinical records.
- Utilise a range of IT systems to manage clinical records.
- Manage enquiries efficiently, and escalate to the team leader if required.
- Take responsibility for the disposal of clinical and sensitive samples and chemical waste, including sharps bins.
- Ensure that all technical standards, policies and procedures are maintained, and escalate any concerns.
- Maintain professional standards and quality control procedures to ensure safe and efficient practice.
- Work with the pathology and laboratory team to implement techniques devised from evidence based practice and clinical guidelines.

What Qualifies You For The Role:
