Junior Accountant (Marine Industry) UAE

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Record Keeping:
    1. Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the marine operations.
    2. Process daily transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
    3. Ensure that all financial records comply with the company’s accounting standards and UAE regulations.
  2. Invoice Processing:
    1. Prepare and verify invoices for services and goods provided within the marine industry.
    2. Ensure proper coding of invoices and timely submission for payment processing.
    3. Follow up on unpaid invoices and assist in managing the accounts receivable aging report.
  3. Reconciliations:
    1. Assist in the monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
    2. Assist in reconciling vendor statements, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  4. Financial Reporting Support:
    1. Prepare routine financial reports such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and expense reports for review by senior accountants or finance managers.
    2. Support the senior finance team with monthly and annual financial closing processes.
  5. Cost Control Assistance:
    1. Help monitor expenses related to marine operations, ensuring they stay within budget.
    2. Assist with tracking fuel, maintenance, and logistics expenses for vessels, ensuring accurate allocation of costs.
  6. Payroll Support:
    1. Assist in processing payroll, ensuring proper calculations of salaries, overtime, and deductions.
    2. Support with the preparation of payroll-related reports and tax filings as required by UAE law.
  7. Tax Compliance:
    1. Help ensure that the company complies with VAT regulations and other applicable tax laws in the UAE.
    2. Assist with preparing VAT returns, submitting them in a timely manner, and keeping records of transactions for audits.
  8. Administrative Tasks:
    1. Assist with filing, organizing, and maintaining financial documentation.
    2. Handle general administrative tasks such as data entry, supporting the finance team with ad-hoc requests, and ensuring smooth operations.
