PURPOSE & SCOPE: Job holder at this level leads teams involved with the development of discipline-specific engineering drawings. For small projects, they will be designated as Designers, with sole responsibility for design work, whilst on larger projects they will assume responsibilities as Team Leaders.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervises and participates in discipline-specific Drafting activities carried out by Level 1 and 2 staff, ensuring that work assignments are completed on time and to set standards.
2. Studies and understands the scope of work and specifications for each project. Prepares basic drawings and allocates them to team members for the work of preparing detailed engineering drawings.
3. Acts as the ultimate checker for all drawings produced by Draftsmen to ensure compliance with brief, consistency, and quality of work.
4. Prepares the Bill of Materials for the entire project, ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness of information.
5. Provides input for the resolution of engineering queries from clients or third parties.
6. Undertakes interdisciplinary co-ordination and performs IDC to ensure integration of project Drafting activities.
7. Works in close conjunction with discipline engineer to ensure speedy resolution of any problems that might arise and that the project schedule is adhered to.
8. Resolves yard queries (within level of capability) that might arise during the construction phase to ensure work being carried conforms with the drawings.
9. Undertakes pre-engineering site surveys in order to confirm the correctness of handover documents and suitability of allocated site for project implementation.
10. Design / Prepare Cable block diagram, Single line diagram, Interconnection diagram, Instrument Hook up details, Instrument index, Cable tray layout, Lighting layouts, Instrument / F&G layouts & MCT layout drawings.
11. Design / Prepare supports except the simple types.
12. Perform 3D design activities.
13. Ensure all the Electronic files are properly copied.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

1. Technical Diploma in Engineering, or equivalent.
2. 10 years drafting experience, with a minimum of 2 years at Level 2.
3. Supervisory experience and team-leader qualities.
4. Good interdisciplinary knowledge.
5. Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
6. Experienced and competent Computer Aided Design (CAD) operator.
7. Rigorous checker.
