Landscape Draftsman Job Description

As a Landscape Draftsman, you will play a pivotal role in translating landscape designs into technical drawings and plans. Working closely with landscape architects and designers, your expertise in drafting and attention to detail will ensure the accurate representation of landscape features, terrain, and elements. Your drawings will serve as a guide for construction teams and contractors, facilitating the realization of intricate landscape designs.

Responsibilities:

1. Draft detailed landscape plans, including site layouts, planting plans, grading and drainage plans, and construction details.
2. Collaborate with landscape architects and designers to understand project requirements and specifications.
3. Translate conceptual designs into precise technical drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software and traditional drafting techniques.
4. Ensure compliance with local building codes, regulations, and zoning requirements.
5. Incorporate sustainable design principles and environmental considerations into drafting work.
6. Create accurate quantity take-offs and material schedules for project estimation and procurement.
7. Review and revise drawings based on feedback from project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and clients.
8. Coordinate with surveyors and other professionals to gather site data and information for drafting purposes.
9. Assist in site inspections and construction supervision to ensure adherence to design intent and specifications.
10. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in drafting technology, and best practices in landscape architecture.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in landscape architecture, landscape design, or related field.
2. Proven experience as a draftsman or drafter, preferably in landscape architecture or related industry.
3. Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
4. Strong understanding of landscape design principles, plant materials, and construction techniques.
5. Excellent drafting skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
7. Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and permitting processes related to landscape architecture.
8. Familiarity with sustainable design practices and green building standards.
9. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
10. Flexibility to adapt to evolving project requirements and work in a fast-paced environment.
11. With valid driving license.
