Discipline Lead/Manager - Road Grading

AtkinsRealis is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Abu Dhabi, UAE office as a Discipline Lead/Manager - Road Grading in Abu Dhabi.

The person is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of road grading projects. This role involves ensuring that road surfaces are correctly graded to promote efficient drainage and to prepare the foundation for subsequent layers of road construction. The engineer will work closely with construction teams, surveyors, and project managers to deliver high-quality road infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Design:
   1. Develop detailed grading plans and specifications based on engineering principles and project requirements.
   2. Conduct site assessments and surveys to gather data for designing road grades and alignments.
   3. Utilize software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) for creating grading plans and profiles.
2. Construction Oversight:
   1. Supervise and monitor grading operations to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
   2. Coordinate with construction teams, surveyors, and other stakeholders to address any on-site issues and ensure timely project completion.
   3. Perform quality control inspections and assessments to verify that grading work meets engineering standards and project requirements.
3. Technical Support and Problem Solving:
   1. Provide technical guidance and support to construction teams regarding grading techniques and best practices.
   2. Identify and resolve engineering problems related to grading, drainage, and soil stabilization.
   3. Recommend modifications to grading plans as necessary to accommodate site conditions and project changes.
4. Compliance and Documentation:
   1. Ensure all grading activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards.
   2. Maintain accurate project documentation, including grading plans, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.
   3. Prepare progress reports and communicate project status to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 15 years of experience in road construction, with a focus on grading operations.
3. Proven experience in supervising and managing road grading projects in Abu Dhabi.
4. Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
5. Strong understanding of soil mechanics, drainage systems, and road construction techniques.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Additional Requirements:

1. Valid driver’s license in UAE.
2. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
3. Willingness to travel to various project sites as needed.
