Purpose of the Job:
The Director of Digital & Technology – Food & Retail will lead the digital and technology strategy to drive operational efficiency, enhance customer experience, and enable omnichannel growth. This role will oversee store operations technology, e-commerce platforms, supply chain digitalization, and data-driven decision-making, ensuring seamless integration of digital solutions across all retail channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Digital & Technology Strategy:
- Develop and execute a digital transformation roadmap aligned with food & grocery retail business objectives.
- Identify and implement emerging technologies (AI, automation, and data analytics) to improve operations and customer engagement.
- Drive Technology-business alignment, ensuring technology investments deliver measurable business value.
Omnichannel & E-Commerce Enablement:- Enhance the online grocery and food delivery experience, ensuring seamless integration with physical stores.
- Oversee performance of point-of-sale (POS), self-checkout, smart shelving, and automated inventory management solutions to optimize customer experience.
- Enable real-time inventory tracking and demand forecasting using AI and analytics.
- Implement AI-driven product recommendations, personalized marketing, and smart pricing models.
- Enable seamless B2B and B2C e-commerce and digital customer experiences.
Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement:- Act as a trusted business partner to supply chain, operations, and commercial teams.
- Lead and develop a high-performing Technology and digital transformation team.
- Engage with vendors, technology partners, and executive leadership to drive innovation and efficiency.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in leadership roles in digital transformation or technology strategy within food & grocery retail.
- Strong knowledge of in-store, ecommerce, last mile, loyalty technologies.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change management.
- Business acumen with a customer-first and data-driven mindset.
- Must be fluent in any of the following languages due to the nature of the job: German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Swedish.
