Director, Innovation and New Technology will generate, propose and follow through innovative and new technology solutions to business-critical issues as assigned by NOMAC in order to improve efficiency, optimize costs and increase NOMAC's O&M competitiveness.
- Lead, direct and follow through different cross-functional innovation projects of varied sizes and technologies.
- Follow market trends and map disruptions by attending seminars and other technological and product marketing events.
- Drive the innovation & new technology agenda, interpret NOMAC's O&M business strategy and determine innovative and new technology solutions supporting strategy implementation.
- Coordinate and work closely with various functions and teams like SVP, VP's, relevant plant PGMs, SMEs, PAT, ACWA Power Innovation, BD & technology team, NOMAC BD and other departments (as necessary) to understand challenges and focus areas for improving the bottom line by introducing innovation and new technology solutions.
- Coordinate with Purchasing Department to work closely with OEMs, service providers and sub-contractors in order to conduct demos and develop solution models.
- Perform due diligence visits as necessary to arrive at meaningful solutions to address business-critical issues and provide comprehensive reports to the management and respective stakeholders.
- Prepare a risk matrix for all solutions and present mitigation strategies and action plans to management and concerned Department(s).
- Coordinate with the internal Technical, Benchmarking and Risk teams highlighting the key risks, opportunities, recommended equipment partners and contractors, risk mitigation strategies, cost-benefit analyses etc., to ensure all the key elements are raised, discussed and resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare and present business cases to the management on innovative and new technology solutions.
- Regularly report to the supervisor on the operational activities of the department, challenges and issues faced, mitigation actions taken, etc. as required, to keep them informed and updated on the department's activities.
- Inculcate a dynamic innovation culture within NOMAC by creating a company-wide internal innovation platform to source new ideas and solutions in an open-innovation environment and reward the best ideas with Innovation Trophies.
- Contribute and influence strategic direction for management through presentations on innovative and new technology solutions.
- Attend meetings at various locations (in different countries) either in person or remotely on short notice to participate and understand the O&M challenges requiring innovative and new technology solutions.
Budget Management
- Prepare the department's budget; manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential departmental performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
Health, Safety, Security and Environment
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, security and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the department to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to organizational and departmental change initiatives, programmes and projects taking into account best practices and standards in the business environment.
Who will fit
- A Bachelor degree holder in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years experience preferably in the Power & Water and other associated sectors with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial capacity.
- Extensive depth and breadth of knowledge and exposure to the Power industry including fossil fuel, Renewables (Solar PV and CSP, Wind & Battery Storage) and Water Desalination Industry including Sea Water RO.
