Job description

The Director, Corporate and Public Engagement is responsible for managing and enhancing the institution's relationships with external stakeholders, including corporations, government agencies, the general public, alumni, and other key organizations. The position involves strategic oversight, planning, and execution of engagement programs that promote the university’s interests, visibility, and partnership

Strategic Roles

  • Define and implement the university’s overarching strategy for Corporate and Public engagement, ensuring alignment with academic, research, and innovation priorities
  • Establish governance frameworks to monitor the effectiveness of Corporate and Public collaborations
  • Foster relationships with government bodies, funding agencies, and corporations

Operational Roles

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with corporations, industry leaders, and government agencies for collaboration, funding, and partnership opportunities.
  • Develop corporate sponsorship and partnership programs that align with academic, research, and community initiatives.
  • Facilitate and manage corporate internships, co-op programs, and research collaborations.
  • Lead efforts to enhance the university's visibility and presence in the community through public relations campaigns and media outreach.
  • Oversee the development of marketing and communication materials for public events, outreach programs, and media releases.
  • Represent the university in external forums, public events, and conferences to promote its programs and initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with alumni, encouraging their involvement in university events, mentorship programs, and fundraising activities.
  • Organize alumni networking events, reunions, and engagement programs to strengthen the alumni community.
  • Plan and execute high-profile events, conferences, workshops, and seminars that involve corporate and public stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with university departments to ensure engagement events align with academic, research, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop initiatives that connect the university with local communities, schools, and organizations.
  • Lead university-wide efforts to increase public awareness and engagement with community-focused programs and services.
  • Track the effectiveness of engagement strategies, providing regular reports on key metrics, goals, and outcomes to senior leadership.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine engagement strategies based on feedback and performance data.

Supervisory Roles

  • Direct, manage and supervise the team and provide guidance
  • Ensure smooth coordination among the team and other teams

Qualifications & Experience

  • Masters in a related field.
  • 12 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, of which 5 years should have been in a senior managerial position, preferably in higher education. (14 for Expats)
