Design Manager-Structural Engineer

JOB SUMMARY (Major functions of the position)

1. 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer in a fabrication environment
2. Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
3. Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, RAM Structural System, and Microsoft Office Suite
4. Experience in Risa 2D, Risa 3D, SAP 2000

Additional Desired Qualifications:

1. S.E. preferred but not required
2. 10+ years of experience in the structural analysis and design of structural projects preferred
3. Experience in ETABS is preferred but not required

Responsibilities will primarily include but are not limited to the following:

1. Performing structural analysis and engaging in the design of steel and/or transportation structures for both new construction and rehabilitation
2. Preparing technical/design reports and calculations packages
3. Preparing construction drawings and specifications
4. Attending design meetings and site inspections with our clients, subconsultants, and partners on an as-needed basis
5. Interacting and collaborating with our in-house drafters and other engineers
6. Designing various structures and producing contract documents for various building types, retaining walls, foundations, and wastewater treatment plants
7. Communicating with other departments to ensure all documentation required is contained within the tender submission
8. Preparing work by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities
9. Preparing construction budget by studying plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation
10. Evaluating offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements
11. Obtaining bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
12. Maintaining cost keys and price masters by updating information
13. Resolving cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
14. Preparing draft tender documents to ensure all systems and components of the tender are included
15. Interpreting and reviewing system drawings to identify any differences to tender requirements and raise queries against specifications
16. Constraining and following company tendering processes and procedures to ensure all aspects of tenders are met including relevant discipline codes and standards
17. Reviewing design outputs for compliance with contractual requirements
18. Gathering opinions from the project team and fabrication team on the engineering details to prepare final controlled documents of the tender
19. Assessing the impact due to design changes and revision works due to client instructions
20. Ensuring project output meets the requirements of codes and specifications
21. Being responsible for the filling of various tenders with all the formalities
22. Maintaining quality service by following organization standards
23. Maintaining continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
24. Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
25. Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

Qualification

Bachelor degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and Masters Degree in Structural Engineering

Desired Professional / Exposure or Experience

• 3 years of design experience
• Knowledge in fabrication and erection activities
