JOB SUMMARY (Major functions of the position)
- 10+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer in a fabrication environment
- Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, RAM Structural System, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in Risa 2D, Risa 3D, SAP 2000
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- S.E. preferred but not required
- 10+ years of experience in the structural analysis and design of structural projects preferred
- Experience in ETABS is preferred but not required
Responsibilities will primarily include but are not limited to the following:
- Performing structural analysis and engaging in the design of steel and/or transportation structures for both new construction and rehabilitation
- Preparing technical/design reports and calculations packages
- Preparing construction drawings and specifications
- Attending design meetings and site inspections with our clients, subconsultants, and partners on an as-needed basis
- Interacting and collaborating with our in-house drafters and other engineers
- Designing various structures and producing contract documents for various building types, retaining walls, foundations, and wastewater treatment plants
- Communicating with other departments to ensure all documentation required is contained within the tender submission
- Preparing work by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities
- Preparing construction budget by studying plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation
- Evaluating offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements
- Obtaining bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price
- Maintaining cost keys and price masters by updating information
- Resolving cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Preparing draft tender documents to ensure all systems and components of the tender are included
- Interpreting and reviewing system drawings to identify any differences to tender requirements and raise queries against specifications
- Constraining and following company tendering processes and procedures to ensure all aspects of tenders are met including relevant discipline codes and standards
- Reviewing design outputs for compliance with contractual requirements
- Gathering opinions from the project team and fabrication team on the engineering details to prepare final controlled documents of the tender
- Assessing the impact due to design changes and revision works due to client instructions
- Ensuring project output meets the requirements of codes and specifications
- Being responsible for the filling of various tenders with all the formalities
- Maintaining quality service by following organization standards
- Maintaining continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Qualification
Bachelor degree in Civil or Structural Engineering and Masters Degree in Structural Engineering
Desired Professional / Exposure or Experience
- 3 years of design experience
- Knowledge in fabrication and erection activities
