THE ROLE: Reporting directly to the Senior Design Manager, the Design Manager (Structural) will provide input to senior management on design delivery matters and will be fully responsible for the successful delivery of assigned services and/or project components. The Design Manager (Structural) will coordinate with the project management team to ensure the project's design stage objectives are met.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As a member of our Project Management Consultant (PMC) team, you'll oversee a diverse portfolio of projects that contribute to Abu Dhabi's growth. You will play an important role in shaping thriving communities by managing the development of residential housing projects and ensuring the quality of new educational facilities. Furthermore, your expertise will be crucial in overseeing the development of mosques and maximizing urban space through infill development projects.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to the team.
Ensure the design aligns with client requirements and complies with current UAE legislation, industry standards, and specifications.
Manage all aspects of the asset or infrastructure design production process to ensure alignment with the program’s strategic objectives.
Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to manage design and its approval across project stakeholders.
Assist the Senior Design Manager in preparing a detailed project plan for the asset or infrastructure design phases of the program.
Manage day-to-day structural design monitoring activities and resources, and actively participate in design team meetings.
Ensure that all asset or structural design-related project KPIs, targets, directions, and instructions are communicated clearly and timely to all relevant project stakeholders.
Coordinate between architecture and engineering teams to ensure integration of structural solutions into overall project designs.
Provide status reporting regarding structural design milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks, and issues.
Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections, and proposals for evaluation by key stakeholders.
Act as an internal quality control check for structural design documentation.
Ensure that designs proceed according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Manage design issues and risks to mitigate impact to the baseline program.
Possess an extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
BSc in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in the design of building projects (villas and community facilities) within a consulting environment in Abu Dhabi.
Minimum of 10 years overall experience.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
Minimum of 5 years working in the Middle East.
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, RAM Structural System, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience in Risa 2D, Risa 3D, SAP 2000 is advantageous.
Excellent report writing and communication skills.
