Job Summary
As a Diamond Associate-RDE, you will undergo a comprehensive 12-15 month training program that prepares individuals for the role of Regional Design Engineer (RDE). The program will provide the fundamentals as well as in-depth knowledge to help develop strong functional and technical expertise engineers.
As an RDE, you will play a crucial role in the engineering team, responsible for delivering world-class innovative drill bit design solutions to meet customer needs. This position demands an in-depth understanding of the drilling process, including drilling optimization, drill bit design, geology, and critical thinking.
This role requires a strong desire to embrace new challenges and a drive to continuously enhance technical and interpersonal skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- All tasks are carried out in accordance with Engineering group policies and quality procedures under the leadership of the Engineering Manager.
- Technical support for drill bit design features, selection and application – the RDE will be the local expert for internal and external customers for drill bit product development and application.
- Design of fixed cutter product in cooperation with DSE, Sales and external customers (client Drilling Engineers).
- Contribute to sales and marketing efforts to ensure products offered are in line with engineering group and company strategies.
- Provide technical support both internally and externally to customers.
- Assist field testing and new technology commercialization.
- Chair meetings with internal and external customers and be aware of (and deliver) client expectations during client meetings and monitor individual's performance to ensure customer care.
- Remain aware and involved in the latest developments within the industry and the greater engineering world to identify any potential concepts that could be incorporated into new designs.
- Travel as and when required in order to support the business.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties when requested by a line manager.
- Interact with personnel in other departments and disciplines.
- Consistently produce quality work and recommend areas where quality can be improved.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
- Degree: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent Engineering major.
- Degree Score: Minimum 2:1 (3.0 to 3.33 GPA).
- Graduate position.
- 0 to 3 years maximum experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook).
- CAD – Familiarity with Computer Aided Design models. Proven record of utilization of commercially available CAD systems.
- FEA – Working knowledge of the principles that govern FEA.
- CFD - Working knowledge of the principles that govern CFD.
