Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Engineer BESS to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including battery chemistry, duty cycling, performance optimization, safety, and integration with renewable energy systems. The candidate will play a key role in designing, optimizing, and delivering high-performance BESS solutions, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise & System Design
- Strong working knowledge of energy storage technologies including battery chemistry, duty cycling, round-trip efficiency, cycle life, thermal management, and safety.
- Experience in system studies related to BESS and power system performance.
- Knowledge of DC/DC converter operation and its applications.
- Expertise in hybrid renewable energy systems design, including Solar PV, Wind Energy, and Battery Storage integration.
- Hands-on experience in MATLAB Simulink, ETAP, HOMER, and other relevant simulation tools.
- Proficiency in battery system design, inverter integration, and MV/HV substation connectivity.
- Strong understanding of battery inverter control logic and operation modes (e.g., VAR mode, PF mode).
- Knowledge of panel architecture, heat ventilation, and temperature rise calculations.
- Experience in root cause analysis and providing engineering solutions.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Proven experience in project engineering and execution of energy storage projects in engineering or consulting environments.
- Ability to develop cost-optimized designs through value engineering and review designs for best performance and reliability.
- Preparation of technical specifications, tender documents, and evaluation of bids.
- Conducting engineering reviews, quality checks, and approvals for design drawings, reports, and deliverables.
- Providing technical support during installation and commissioning phases.
- Coordination with multi-disciplinary teams including civil engineers, instrumentation engineers, and CAD technicians.
- Liaising with vendors, clients, and external consultants during various design phases as required.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and health & safety (H&S) regulations.
- Developing Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) specifications, reviewing test plans, and interpreting test reports.
- Adhering to company Design Management procedures and ensuring project deliverables meet client requirements and technical specifications.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor&aposs/Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or related fields.
- Experience: Minimum X years of experience in BESS engineering, renewable energy, and power systems.
- Technical Skills: Strong expertise in BESS design, MATLAB Simulink, ETAP, HOMER, and power system analysis.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with renewable energy integration, hybrid systems, and power electronics.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication for cross-functional collaboration.
