I. Job purpose:

The Design Engineer is responsible for creating and reviewing technical designs, ensuring that building projects meet architectural and engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. This role involves close collaboration with architects, contractors, and project teams to develop innovative, functional, and cost-effective solutions for the structural, mechanical, and electrical aspects of commercial buildings.

II. Key Job Responsibilities

1. Create detailed design plans, drawings, and specifications for structural, mechanical, or electrical systems using CAD and BIM software.
2. Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to integrate designs into the overall project concept.
3. Ensure designs comply with building codes, zoning laws, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
4. Conduct feasibility studies and technical analyses to validate design concepts.
5. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure seamless integration of designs.
6. Recommend suitable materials, systems, and construction methods that align with project objectives.
7. Conduct design reviews to ensure technical accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
8. Provide technical support to construction teams, addressing design-related queries and challenges.
9. Maintain accurate records of design changes, approvals, and other project documentation.

III. Education Qualification, Work Experience & Skills

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (depending on specialization).

Experience

1. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in design engineering for commercial building projects.

Skills

1. Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar BIM tools.
2. Strong understanding of structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, ETABS) or MEP design software.
3. In-depth knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
4. Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient solutions.
