Design Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

AKI/GCL is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our team! This role plays a crucial part in project execution by supporting design development, coordinating with subcontractors, procurement, and scheduling, and ensuring timely delivery of project plans. The Design Engineer will also liaise with consultants and stakeholders to facilitate seamless project progress.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assist the Project Manager in developing project management documents such as scope statements and project plans.
• Prepare basic design drawings, quantity calculations, and as-built drawings for various project types using AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Collaborate with designers to ensure drawing accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Work closely with designers and field staff to troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues.
• Support the creation of CAD drawings from conceptual to final design stages.
• Design alignments, profiles, sections, and corridors using AutoCAD/AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Process field data and computer-generated survey information.
• Ensure compliance with drawing standards and drafting requirements.
• Prepare pre-engineering and topographic plans.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in field construction or a related discipline.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

Job-Specific Skills:

• Experience in construction, landscaping, and civil structures/utilities (preferred).
• Strong understanding of cost-effective and customer-focused project execution.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
