Job description
Roles and responsibilities
  1. Ensure our work communicates clearly, is on brand, and delights users.
  2. Explain and discuss design decisions eloquently and give design feedback.
  3. Assist with the definition and creation of flexible, coherent design systems and component libraries.
  4. Work with design, technology, and project management to ensure the design meets creative, strategy, and project objectives.
  5. Contribute design to mood boards, concept sketches, presentation decks, style guides, and storyboards under specific direction from the project’s Creative Lead.
  6. Understand brand strategy and the organizational/political dynamics of assigned brands, including the critical processes that drive them and the key players involved. Translate or extend the brand identity system to digital touchpoints.
Who are we looking for?
  1. A recent graduate from a digital design background.
  2. Practical command of standard design applications (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Keynote, Sketch, InVision); experience with video editing, motion graphics, and prototyping software is a plus.
  3. Strong student, freelance, or comparable digital design portfolio with examples of mobile and touch work.
  4. Practical awareness of delivery methodologies with an emphasis on agile.
  5. Ability to utilize feedback/direction from the Creative Lead to generate multiple design explorations and iterate those designs to the satisfaction of the Creative Lead.
  6. Basic understanding of technical and cross-platform implications (strengths and limitations of individual native, hybrid, and HTML platforms).
Desired candidate profile
  1. Design Research and Analysis
    1. Market and User Research: Conducting research to understand market trends, user needs, and industry best practices. This can involve surveys, interviews, focus groups, and usability testing.
    2. Competitive Analysis: Analyzing competitor designs and identifying trends or gaps that could influence design decisions.
    3. User-Centered Design (UCD): Understanding user needs and behaviors, and applying this knowledge to create user-focused design solutions.
    4. Trend Forecasting: Keeping up to date with emerging design trends, technologies, and tools to ensure designs are contemporary and innovative.
  2. Data Analysis and Interpretation
    1. Quantitative Analysis: Analyzing design data, such as user feedback, interaction metrics, or performance statistics, to evaluate design effectiveness.
    2. Qualitative Analysis: Interpreting qualitative data from user testing or feedback to derive insights that inform design improvements.
    3. Design Metrics: Measuring design performance through metrics like user engagement, conversion rates, bounce rates, and task completion time.
    4. Statistical Tools: Utilizing tools like Excel, R, or SPSS to analyze data, perform statistical analysis, and draw insights.
  3. Design Process Optimization
    1. Process Improvement: Identifying inefficiencies or bottlenecks in the design process and recommending solutions to streamline workflows and improve productivity.
    2. Design Iteration: Using data and feedback to refine and iterate on design concepts, ensuring continuous improvement in quality and functionality.
    3. Prototyping and Testing: Creating low-fidelity or high-fidelity prototypes to test design concepts and gather data on user interaction.
    4. Agile Methodology: Applying agile design principles to iteratively test and refine designs in short cycles.
  4. Design Tools and Software
    1. Design Software: Proficiency in design tools like Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD), Sketch, Figma, CorelDRAW, or InVision for visual design and prototyping.
    2. 3D Modeling Tools: Familiarity with 3D design tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Blender for industrial or product design analysis.
    3. UX/UI Design Tools: Familiarity with wireframing and prototyping tools like Balsamiq, Axure, Marvel, or Framer.
    4. Data Visualization Tools: Ability to use tools like Tableau or Power BI to create visual representations of design data and insights.
