The successful candidate will possess excellent editing skills and work well within a small team. They should have an in-depth knowledge of Saudi and UAE football as well as a broad knowledge of our other core sports including cricket, MMA, F1, and tennis.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Deputy Sports Editor to join our editorial team. In this role, you will assist the sports editor in overseeing our sports coverage, managing a team of writers, and ensuring our content is both timely and compelling. Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist the sports editor in planning and coordinating daily sports coverage
2. Supervise and mentor a team of sports writers, providing feedback and guidance
3. Edit and proofread articles to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to our style guidelines
4. Collaborate with reporters to generate story ideas and enhance coverage across various sports
5. Stay updated on sports news, trends, and events to inform editorial decisions
6. Manage social media channels and engage with our audience to promote sports content
7. Coordinate with other departments to ensure cohesive coverage across platforms

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
2. Proven experience in sports journalism, with a track record of producing high-quality content
3. Strong editing and writing skills, with a keen eye for detail
4. Excellent knowledge of various sports and the current sports landscape
5. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously
6. Leadership skills and a passion for mentoring junior writers
7. Proficiency in digital content management systems and social media platforms
