This position has overall accountability for the performance of the department, including the quality and consistency of all tasks, activities, and deliverables prepared by the Technical Safety Engineers across multiple projects and customers in the region.

Within the remit of the function, the Department Manager plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls projects in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company. The role includes day-to-day management, development, and deployment of team members and interfacing with customers as required, with a focus on delivery and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of the respective industry and will be required to contribute towards proposals while seeking to grow the business within the area of expertise. The job role includes budgetary accountabilities.

Experience required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry.
• Considered an SME in the area of interest.
• Previous experience managing a team of engineering professionals.
• Self-starter, driven with a good combination of technical and soft skills.
• Good working knowledge of Process Safety Frameworks for operating organizations.
• Experience in development, implementation, documentation, maintenance, and day-to-day administration of technical safety studies, workshops, reports, design deliverables, calculations, reporting, and specifications to meet project objectives within the Abu Dhabi/Middle East portfolio.
• Ability to establish and maintain technical standards within the discipline.
• Sets strategic and tactical direction regarding policy/procedures, workforce staffing, and budgeting.
• Responsible for the overall development of the Technical Safety discipline resources.
• Ensures that changes to regulations, regulatory guidance material, industry standards, and recommended practices related to technical safety are incorporated into necessary policies, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance with current requirements.
• Liaising with other Technical Departments and functions.
• Previous Middle East experience is beneficial.
