As a Dental Nurse, you will be an integral part of the dental team, working closely with dentists, hygienists, and other dental professionals to provide high-quality care and ensure a smooth operation of dental procedures. You will be responsible for assisting in clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring the comfort of patients, and maintaining a clean and safe environment in the dental practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with Procedures:
Prepare patients for dental treatments, ensuring they are comfortable and relaxed.
Assist the dentist during examinations, procedures, and surgeries.
Handle dental instruments, equipment, and materials as required by the procedure.
Monitor patient’s vital signs during treatment and report any changes to the dentist.
Sterilization and Infection Control:
Sterilize dental instruments and maintain infection control standards according to clinic guidelines.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations regarding hygiene and sterilization procedures.
Set up and clean dental treatment rooms before and after each patient.
Patient Care:
Provide emotional support and reassurance to anxious or nervous patients.
Take patient medical histories and record information as directed by the dentist.
Ensure patients understand the treatment plan, aftercare instructions, and any necessary follow-ups.
Maintain patient confidentiality in line with legal and ethical standards.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and manage the clinic’s calendar.
Maintain accurate patient records in the dental practice management system.
Handle billing, invoicing, and insurance claims.
Order dental supplies and manage stock levels.
X-Rays and Diagnostic Support:
Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
Assist with the preparation and analysis of diagnostic images.
Maintaining Equipment:
Regularly inspect and maintain dental equipment and tools.
Report equipment malfunctions and arrange for repairs or replacements when needed.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with dental regulations and clinic protocols.
Stay updated on the latest dental practices, equipment, and technology.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Dental Nurse qualification (e.g., diploma or certificate in dental nursing).
Experience: Previous experience in a dental practice is preferred but not required.
Certification: Valid certification in basic life support (BLS) or first aid (if required by local regulations).
