Dean e-School of Health and Environmental Studies

Job Summary: The Dean is responsible for providing leadership in relation to all aspects of the design, development, delivery, and assessment of programs. The role includes strategic planning, budget development and management, and policy formulation in relation to building and managing the School. In addition, fostering a culture of research within the school and encouraging community engagement. The Deanship requires academic leadership which is exercised through:

1. Carrying out local and international accreditation.
2. Continuously exploring possible partnerships ensuring quality and policy compliance and affiliation.
3. Continuously growing the portfolios of programs and courses in alignment with the university strategic plans.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and develop the school's program portfolio in line with market needs and university strategic direction, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
2. Provide ongoing creative and innovative leadership to the school and ensure school/university continuous growth.
3. Prepare and oversee management of the school's annual budget.
4. Chair the respective school's council.
5. Maintain a flexible schedule to carry out administrative, academic, and campus-level responsibilities.
6. Take an active role in policies review, development, and implementation to ensure accountability, efficiency in resource use, and compliance with the university strategic directions.
7. Maintain links with industry, government, professional, and wider community relevant to the school and promote faculty engagement with community services.
8. Initiate, develop, and coordinate new affiliations and partnerships to support the school's activities.
9. Work closely with various stakeholders within the university to foster a learner-centric environment that is proactive and responsive to the learners' needs.
10. Promote and encourage the pursuit of excellence in innovative teaching and learning, research, administration, and community services (may include encouraging submissions to internal, national, regional, and international awards, etc.).
11. Manage faculty recruitment, development, workload distribution, performance assessment, promotion, and retention to ensure the school is supported by a highly qualified and strong faculty community.
12. Seek and maintain local and international accreditation efforts for all programs and offerings of the school throughout the various offerings model implemented by the school.
13. Take an active role in supervising the academic advising through the school and monitor learner's overall performance.
14. Participate in professional growth activities and maintain continuing education to stay abreast of current industry trends.

Required Skills:

1. Applicants must hold a PhD. Degree from an accredited university.
2. Rank of Full Professor in relevant academic discipline to the school.
3. Held Dean position or other senior level administrative positions in an accredited university for at least 2 years.
4. Teaching experience in an accredited university at graduate and undergraduate levels.
5. Must be an active researcher in their discipline with an excellent track record of scholarly journal publications.
6. Demonstrated leadership in relation to academic programs and faculty management.
7. Strategic and operational planning skills in academic institutions.
8. Experience in local and international accreditation of academic programs.
9. Ability to grow the school portfolio of programs in alignment with the university strategic plans.
10. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with industries and the community at large for improving school position and image in the community.
11. Guide marketing efforts for the school to increase student enrollment.
12. International experience and qualifications will be given preference.
13. Experience working in an online/e-learning environment will be given preference.
14. English language proficiency is a must.
