Job description

A data entry job involves entering and updating data into a computer system or database. The primary responsibility is to input information accurately and efficiently, ensuring that it is well-organized and error-free.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Data Entry: Input alphanumeric data from source documents into the computer system with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Verification: Review data for errors or discrepancies and correct any inaccuracies.
  • Database Maintenance: Regularly update and maintain databases by entering new and updated information.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data by performing quality checks on a regular basis.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed and organized records of entered data and activities.
  • Timeliness: Complete tasks within specified time frames to meet deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Communication: Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively regarding data-related tasks.

EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school diploma or equivalent. Additional education or certification in data entry is a plus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
  • Knowledge of basic data analysis techniques.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
  • Typing Skills: Proficient typing skills with a high level of accuracy.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to spot errors.
  • Organizational Skills: Good organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with data entry software, databases, and basic computer applications.
