Our headquarters are in London, and we operate globally, with a regional office in Dubai. We’re unique in how we bring together creative, technology and production under one roof. About the team
The Dubai office of Pixel Artworks is a small but growing team made up of account management, technical and delivery staff based in D3 | Design District. The Dubai team work closely with the London office (where the main studio and creative team are based). The Dubai office houses a one of a kind immersive showroom that is used to educate, explain and showcase to clients what our offering is.
Working closely with other departments, the team ensures an exemplary quality of service is maintained and that accounts are profitable and managed in a style in line with the reputation of Pixel Artworks.
Role summary
The Creative Director will draw upon a wealth of experience to create best in class shared immersive experiences. They will be the custodian of Pixel Artworks’ creative visions and by creating innovative work, they will create new forms of storytelling, influence the creative industry and lead others to creative & technical innovation.
As Creative Director you will ideate for a highly diverse clientele in response to the most ambitious creative briefs, confidently building concepts, with a clear understanding of how to deliver a strategic vision.
Key responsibilities
Creative
- Have oversight and take accountability for the creative output of all projects.
- Be the face of the creative department in client meetings.
- Interpret complex and ambitious briefs and present ideas that surpass client expectations.
- Tell client stories through creative uses of innovative technology.
- Responsible for creative response creating memorable pitch presentations.
- Building and leading teams through design and delivery process.
- Briefing and supporting Lead Artists as they progress through a project.
- Directs or inputs in all creative components of a project such as filming, lighting, audio design, script, choreography.
- Elevate the creative calibre of the studio.
- Creative direction across multiple projects where necessary.
- Be in tune to cultural sensitivities that might apply to creative output.
- Adapts their creative approach to suit the local market and cultural preferences.
Commercial
- Understand commercial and strategic implications of a project.
- Craft creative approach that is appropriate to a projects scope and budget.
People
- Show leadership at project and studio level.
- Inspire and motivate creative teams.
- Support and mentor lead artists through the creative process.
- Take online management responsibilities to support and develop in house talent.
- Be a positive influence in the studio and help improve mental wellbeing of your team.
- Forge strong client relationships and inspire belief in creative vision.
- Collaborate with the creative artists to drive the studio forward.
- Demonstrate a genuine respect for Middle Eastern cultures and customs.
- Seek to understand cultural nuances that vary widely within the region that may affect teamwork and collaboration.
- Ability to clearly articulate creative concepts and strategies to diverse stakeholders of whom many, English will not be their first language.
Patience & Diplomacy
- Navigates potential cultural misunderstandings with patience and tact.
- Understands that decision-making processes may take time and require consensus-building.
- Remains calm and composed in often very challenging situations that may appear very different to the norm.
The Studio
- Ensure that all teams members follow the Pixel Artworks process, workflow and pipelines.
- Create strong partnerships with producers to plan and manage projects through the design and delivery process.
- Collaborate with senior studio team members to drive innovation.
- Support the Resource Manager with recruitment where necessary.
- Support the marketing team to ensure the documentation of a project presents the strategic value of the work.
- Participate in company and team meetings where required.
Required attributes
- Confident presenting ideas to clients and the ability to hold productive workshops with them.
- Understand the full 3D animation pipeline, techniques and executions.
- Proven background directing world class immersive Experiences.
- Outstanding idea generation and the ability to think outside the bubble.
- Excellent written skills and the ability to articulate a treatment in response to a client brief.
- Ability to communicate to team members to help drive projects forward.
- Able to express your ideas visually to help all other team members understand your vision.
- A comprehensive understanding of relevant technology and the ability to use it creatively.
- Experience using Adobe CC. & Cinema 4D.
- Experience directing music composition and/or sound design.
- Experience directing lighting design.
Desirable attributes
- Understanding of realtime renderers and interactive engines unity, unreal engine etc.
- Experience directing shoots or live performance.
