COO

Aventus are partnered with a leading construction organisation who are seeking to appoint a new COO (nationals only) from the construction sector and provide direct support to the Group CEO. This position is targeted towards candidates who will bring a strategic, commercial and forward-thinking approach with a proven background in large-scale construction.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership:

1. Oversee and manage the entire operations of the company, including project delivery, construction, quality control, and health & safety.
2. Develop and implement operational strategies, ensuring alignment with the company’s business goals.
3. Monitor performance metrics across projects and ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.

Strategic Planning:

1. Collaborate with the Group CEO and executive team to shape and execute the company’s strategic vision.
2. Identify opportunities for market expansion and operational improvement.
3. Drive innovation in construction methodologies, processes, and technologies.

Project and Resource Management:

1. Oversee resource allocation to optimize efficiency and profitability across all projects.
2. Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and industry best practices.
3. Lead project risk assessments and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership and Development:

1. Build, mentor, and lead high-performing operational teams.
2. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence within the organization.
3. Drive succession planning and leadership development within operational departments.

Stakeholder Management:

1. Maintain and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
2. Act as the primary liaison for major project stakeholders to ensure satisfaction and long-term collaboration.

Financial Oversight:

1. Work closely with the finance team to manage operational budgets and forecasts.
2. Ensure cost-effectiveness in project execution and overall operations.
3. Monitor project profitability and implement corrective measures when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Nationals only is a mandatory requirement.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is preferred.
3. Minimum of 15 years of experience in large-scale construction or contracting companies, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
4. Proven track record of successfully managing complex, large-scale projects.
5. In-depth knowledge of construction operations, project management, and contractual frameworks.
6. Strong understanding of local and international construction regulations.
7. Proficiency in project management tools and software.
