Sobha Constructions
United Arab Emirates
AED 50,000 - 200,000
Job description

Sobha Constructions is a fast-growing construction company in the Middle East with a vision to be a pioneer in redefining the quality standards in construction. We are looking to hire an individual who can work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently draw look-ahead plans.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Engineer with a background in construction and a strong understanding of line balancing, capacity planning, lean construction, and process engineering. This role will focus on optimizing construction operations through process improvements, value stream mapping, and the application of lean methodologies. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall construction project performance.

Process Flow Diagram (PFD):

  1. Develop and document detailed process flow diagrams for various construction activities and workflows.
  2. Identify key processes, inputs, outputs, and interdependencies.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate representation of construction processes.

Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA):

  1. Conduct comprehensive PFMEA to identify potential risks, failure modes, and their effects on construction projects.
  2. Evaluate the severity, occurrence, and detection of risks to prioritize mitigation strategies.
  3. Facilitate cross-functional team meetings to analyze root causes and brainstorm preventive actions.
  4. Develop control plans to monitor and manage critical construction processes.
  5. Define control methods, measurement techniques, and responsibility assignments to ensure process consistency.

Ensure that all control plans align with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

  1. Lead the implementation of lean construction principles to eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve project timelines.
  2. Utilize lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Last Planner System (LPS), and Just-In-Time (JIT) to enhance construction operations and project performance.

Value Stream Mapping (VSM):

  1. Conduct value stream mapping sessions to analyze construction processes from start to finish, identifying inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
  2. Collaborate with project teams to design and implement improvements based on VSM analysis to streamline construction activities.

Line Balancing & Capacity Planning:

  1. Analyze construction workflows and project schedules to ensure optimal resource allocation and efficient use of labor, equipment, and materials.
  2. Develop and implement capacity planning strategies to meet project deadlines and minimize delays or downtime on construction sites.

Process & Construction Engineering:

  1. Evaluate and improve construction processes, workflows, and project management methodologies to meet quality, safety, and budgetary targets.
  2. Work closely with construction managers and site engineers to develop engineering solutions for process optimization.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  1. Collect, analyze, and report on construction project performance data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
  2. Develop performance metrics and KPIs to monitor the success of process improvements and operational changes.
  3. Work with cross-functional teams, including construction managers, project engineers, and subcontractors, to implement continuous improvement initiatives on-site.
  4. Provide training to construction teams on lean principles, process optimization, and best practices in construction management.

Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis:

  1. Lead problem-solving initiatives to address operational issues or project delays using root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone diagram) and corrective action planning.
  2. Facilitate continuous feedback loops to ensure that corrective actions are implemented and monitored effectively.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  1. 4-8 years of experience in construction operations, project engineering, or a related field with a focus on continuous improvement, process optimization, and lean construction.
  2. Proven experience in applying lean construction principles and tools to improve project outcomes, such as reducing lead times, minimizing waste, and enhancing collaboration.
