Performs all functions and duties of a Medical oncological surgeon, providing expert medical care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients, including pre- and post-operative cases and such Medical Oncology procedures as are within the incumbent's competence.
Provides consultation services to physicians, other surgeons, and specialists as required.
Assumes after-hours responsibilities for the care of assigned surgical cases and makes daily rounds for those hospitalized.
Orders diagnostic laboratory studies and X-ray examinations, determining the diagnosis and prescribing applicable therapy.
Determines the eligibility of patients for admission.
Adheres to the By-laws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Department and assures that work performed is in keeping with the established standards of the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals.
Consults with anesthesiologists on the choice of anesthesia to be used.
Participates in and contributes to in-service activities such as lectures, conferences, and rounds.
Participates in the Quality Assurance activities of the Service (morbidity and mortality reviews, peer review activities, etc.).
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the department.
Follows appropriate international guidelines, MOH regulations, and Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.
Desired Candidate Profile
Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship.
Post-graduation and super specialization in Medical Oncology from a recognized medical university.
At least five (5) years of practice limited to oncological surgery since certification.
Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
