Your role
As a Project Manager, you will have to manage the lifecycle of a project from the initial stages of participation in the tender (in agreement with Management), across the signing of the contract up to the completion and handover of the work to the client. You will oversee the establishment and control of operational, technical, economic and legal aspects and then ensure compliance with the contract in terms of time, cost and quality, and maximize any possible increase in marginality. You will be responsible for the outcome of the project in terms of margin created and client satisfaction (in terms of additional revenue, time, cost, quality).
Key tasks
- Verifying the contract together with Management in the tender phase.
- Studying the bid/contract details sent to the Client (and/or signed by the Client), the project and its specifications.
- Identifying the team of subcontractors together with the project Estimator.
- Organising the internal kick-off meeting and participating in the kick-off meeting with the Client and its representatives.
- Planning a detailed works schedule to be consistent with the general contract schedule.
- Drafting the project budget for the tender phase and identifying sources of margin increase.
- Coordinating communications between Client, Works Supervision and Suppliers.
- Monitoring the impacts of the project on third parties.
- Monitoring the impacts of the project on costs and timescales.
- Verifying the contractual fulfilment towards the Client from all points of view (technical, operational, economic and/or administrative).
- Coordinating technical, operational and administrative resources both during the engineering period (i.e., in the development period for identification and placement of orders) and in the installation period.
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Monitoring the impact of change orders on cost and time.
- Managing project economics.
- Accompanying clients on site to check the progress of the project.
- Organising on-site meetings and the related meeting minutes to be sent to the various project stakeholders.
- Identifying and managing project risks and maintaining in a structured manner high-level relationships, with a careful management of project stakeholders.
- Supervising the installation and assembly phase.
- Monitoring impacts on costs and schedule of changes made during the installation phase.
Key education and experience
- At least 5 years of experience in a similar field in construction or fit-out companies. Previous experience in the general contracting, retail and/or luxury sectors is desirable.
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or diploma in Surveying.
- In-depth knowledge of typical materials and processes of the business.
- Good command of MS Project or Primavera for project planning management.
- Good knowledge of business processes and ERP software.
- Technical knowledge in interpreting technical construction and fabrication drawings.
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written English. Knowledge of another foreign language (French, German, Arabic, etc.) is desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of the Office suite.
- Knowledge of Autocad. Good command of other parametric modelling software, particularly Revit, is also desirable.
