Your New Role
This list of duties is not exhaustive and may change from time to time according to business needs:
- Assisting with promoting and driving a Compliance and Risk focused culture within the Middle East
- Assist with identification and mitigation of regulatory risks across the Middle East region
- Providing support to the wider Middle East business on Compliance and Risk issues
- Support with local implementation of Equiom Group policy, projects and workstreams
- Provide support to the Regional Head of Compliance - Middle East in discharging Middle East level responsibilities, workstreams and oversight
- Compliance support to Equiom Fiduciary Services (Middle East) Limited ('EFS') (a DFSA-regulated entity), including acting as a Deputy to the EFS Compliance Officer
Provide support to the Regional Head of Compliance - Middle East in discharging a programme of work and oversight responsibilities to address and mitigate regulatory risk across the Middle East, including:
- Owning key central Middle East processes which interface with a number of regulated / registered entities (e.g. Financial Promotions Approval Process, Annual Certifications Process, Gifts & Entertainment)
- Assisting flexibly with ME Compliance Monitoring work on a needs basis.
- Tracking CPD where required at a regional level
- Local assurance work to identify regulatory risks and on specific issues
- Involvement with key Group initiatives and projects
- Investigation work following AML/ CFT / PF screening where issues present.
- Supporting AML onboarding and Customer Due Diligence where it is required at a Middle East level (e.g. Business Partners, contractors)
- Central tracking around CMP / RMP / Internal Audit / Compliance Plan actions and deliverables to maintain Middle East level oversight
- Horizon scanning and regulation review work where wider Middle East application / impact
- Working closely with Company Secretary on matters which have wider Middle East impact - e.g. multiple Board approvals, senior staff movement, corporate & regulatory structuring
- Providing support on project-based work where needs arise
- Potential for trend and root cause analysis on breaches, complaints etc.
- Assistance with Middle East incident management
- Assistance with Group reporting
Compliance support to Equiom Fiduciary Services (Middle East) Limited ('EFS') as a DFSA-regulated entity including:
- Acting as a Deputy to the EFS Compliance Officer
- Act as Deputy MLRO in the absence of the EFS MLRO
- Assisting with maintaining Compliance Registers
- Supporting work on EFS Manuals
- Assisting with Compliance Monitoring Programme work
- Owning certain EFS processes (PA Dealing, External Business Interests etc.)
- Maintaining structure charts
- Assisting with Group and regulatory reporting
- Assisting in other second line of defence work and ad-hoc work as required
- Supporting risk identification work within EFS and being an active part of the Risk and Compliance culture within the firm
- Supporting in the oversight of the Zurich Workplace Solutions (‘ZWS’) relationship
- Growing in the role to become part of EFS succession planning
What will you need to succeed in this role?
As to be expected, we are searching for someone who can bring a range of skills and experiences to enhance the team. As such, there are a few essential skills we are looking for:
- Good level of experience of working in Compliance & Risk
- Experience of working in a regulatory environment
- Experience in implementing / deploying compliance policies & procedures (e.g. financial promotions approvals, gifts and entertainment approvals, maintaining Compliance Registers, Whistleblowing, tracking CPD etc.)
- Experience of running a compliance monitoring programme
- Good understanding of the Regulatory Frameworks and AML / CFT Rules, Regulations & Statutory Legislation
- Proficient in client structures e.g. corporates, trusts, foundations and the associated due diligence requirements
- An understanding of high-risk features such as PEPs, sanctions, sensitive business activities, material jurisdictional connections
- Strong educational background
- Strong understanding of screening tools and processes
- Corporate Service Provider/Trust industry experience (desirable)
- Relevant compliance and / or AML qualifications e.g. ICA, ACAMS (desirable)
- Experience in a similar or related role within a regulated environment (desirable)
- Prior experience as a DMLRO or MLRO (desirable)
