Job description

Hyatt Place Dubai is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Commis Chef with experience in Continental Cuisine to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, committed to delivering high-quality dishes, and eager to learn under the guidance of our experienced chefs. As a Commis Chef, you will support the kitchen operations by preparing and cooking meals, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring food quality and presentation meet Hyatt's high standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the preparation of a variety of continental dishes, ensuring the correct preparation and cooking methods are followed as per the standard recipes.
  2. Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and portioning out sauces, under the supervision of the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
  3. Maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards.
  4. Help with cooking and garnishing dishes according to Hyatt Place Dubai's continental cuisine menu.
  5. Ensure that each dish is prepared and presented according to the highest standards of quality and taste.
  6. Assist with cooking during service hours, ensuring that food is prepared on time and to order.
  7. Monitor the quality and freshness of ingredients and ensure that they are stored correctly.
  8. Ensure all dishes are consistently of high quality, maintaining the taste, texture, and visual appeal of continental dishes.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized kitchen workspace, ensuring that food safety and hygiene standards are adhered to at all times.
  10. Follow all safety protocols related to kitchen equipment and food handling, in compliance with both local and Hyatt's standards.
  11. Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, including chefs, commis chefs, and support staff, to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen.
  12. Communicate effectively with team members, ensuring that food orders are managed properly during busy service periods.
  13. Take an active role in learning and improving culinary skills, particularly in continental cuisine techniques, under the mentorship of senior chefs.
  14. Participate in training sessions and demonstrations, as required, to further your culinary knowledge and skills.
  15. Assist in inventory management and stock control, ensuring that the kitchen has the necessary ingredients and equipment to prepare continental dishes.
  16. Report any shortages or equipment issues to the Sous Chef or Head Chef.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. At least 1-2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen, with a focus on continental cuisine or European-style cooking.
