About the Role:
This senior position is pivotal for project success, overseeing costs, contracts, and risks across the project lifecycle. Responsibilities span from pre-contract tasks like preparing Bills of Quantities and cost estimates to post-contract duties such as contract administration, variation management, and financial control. Enhances cost estimation and facilitates effective change control. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex projects, manage stakeholder relationships, and make strategic decisions contributing to project triumph.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mastery of measurement rules and standard methods
- Reviewing tender documents and drafting Bills of Quantities
- Collecting pricing data and supporting cost assessment negotiations
- Crafting cost estimates utilizing benchmarking and market data
- Contract administration and oversight of payment provisions
- Managing change control processes and valuing Variations (VOs)
- Assessing prolongation costs and issuing Payment Certificates
- Analyzing risks and executing informed mitigation strategies
- Monitoring project progress against cash flow and budget
- Generating cost reports and overseeing Work In Progress (WIP) reports and final accounts
- Tracking and reporting potential risks and cost variations
- Demonstrating proficiency in scheduling principles and project control techniques
- Cultivating positive client relationships and offering expert advice
- Analyzing client briefs and formulating detailed client proposals
- Managing client expectations and addressing complaints effectively
- Proficiency in accounting principles and interpreting financial statements
- Monitoring capital costs and assessing the impact of sustainability measures
- Advising clients on the financial implications of project decisions
- Understanding common procurement routes (Design & Build, etc.)
- Assisting in tendering processes and evaluating tenderers
- Securely managing project information using electronic filing systems
- Familiarity with local regulations and building codes
- Demonstrating knowledge of construction industry best practices
Education & Experience:
Degree / Diploma / Professional Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or equivalent
Membership in a Professional Body (RICS, CIOB, CIArb, etc.)
Minimum of 20 years of experience
