Civil Structural Engineer

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the design of underground networks (storm water, sanitary water, oily water, etc.)
• Ensure that all assigned activities are carried out within the stipulated man-hour budgets and time schedules
• Assist in the preparation of project-related standards and job notes on assigned projects
• Perform engineering design calculations and prepare design sketches as required on assigned projects
• Review, comment on, and approve drawings related to the field of activity
• Review and comment on supplier and other discipline drawings
• Assist in the preparation of contract requisitions and schedules of quantity for underground utilities work on assigned projects
• Perform such duties as may reasonably be assigned by the lead or supervising Civil Engineer
• Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health, and environment, demonstrating a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance
• Participate in and advise on all design activities and initiatives, including provision of training/inductions and documentation review
• Verify that all designs meet required standards, that project objectives are met, and that the work is completed to the agreed schedule

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years' industrial experience
• Membership of a professional body and Chartered Engineer is highly desired, including a demonstration of ongoing commitment to that body through Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
• Considerable experience in Civil Engineering, especially in the Oil and Gas industry
• Experience in EPC organizations in the field of Engineering Design / FEED projects in all aspects of Civil and Structural activities
• Familiarity with terminology used and adopted in the Oil and Gas business
• A range of technical abilities, from the use of engineering and design software such as STAADPro / GTSTRUDL, to understanding topographical, geophysical, and geotechnical issues
