SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for supervising the Civil Engineering Laboratories.
Maintain and repair the laboratory equipment.
Help students/faculty in laboratory experiments/projects. He/she may make sketches and rough layouts, record and analyze data, and report findings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform periodical service for all equipment in civil engineering laboratories/workshop.
Support students and staff on design, construction, and provision of research and laboratory equipment.
Supply students with components required for their projects.
Prepare the equipment required for each experiment.
Supervise and demonstrate the safe usage of machine tools and hand tools to the students.
Maintain and repair different equipment in the laboratories/workshop.
Keep and update consumables in the laboratories/workshops.
Comply with both statutory and university safety protocols.
Participate in external exhibitions, whenever required.
Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Diploma or bachelor degree in civil or related engineering with at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities as specified above.

Reports to: The Head of Department
Subordinates: N/A
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Knowledge of personal computer and other standard office equipment.
Thorough working knowledge of educational electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software.
Skills in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
Ability to communicate technical information to students.
Supervisory skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English language (an Arabic language is an advantage).
Supervising and guiding students regarding safe use of equipment.
Operating and maintaining equipment in mechanical engineering workshop and laboratories.
Responding appropriately to any emergency situation in the laboratory or workshop.
Maintaining and reporting inventory requirements and documentation.
Ability to work in a team.
Good interpersonal skills.
Desired Candidate Profile
Relevant work experience in civil engineering, including design, construction, and project management.
Teaching or research experience in civil engineering is a plus for academic positions.
Key Skills:
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, practices, and technologies related to civil engineering.
Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MATLAB, or similar tools).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities:
Conduct research in areas such as structural engineering, transportation, environmental engineering, or geotechnical engineering.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in civil engineering subjects.
Supervise student projects, theses, and internships.
Collaborate with industry partners and stakeholders on projects and initiatives.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
