Job summary

MISSION:

Responsible for planning and overseeing the engineering and construction of camp accommodations, with a focus on creating safe, functional, and comfortable living spaces for remote or temporary camps.

TASKS:

• Design and develop camp accommodation facilities for remote work sites, construction projects, and other temporary living arrangements, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards;
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate terrain, soil conditions, access, and environmental factors, informing site selection and design decisions;
• Collaborate with project stakeholders, including architects, contractors, and clients, to define project requirements, establish design criteria, and develop innovative solutions tailored to specific project needs;
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents for camp facilities, including site layout, grading, utility connections, buildings, and amenities;
• Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other relevant tools to create accurate and efficient design solutions, optimizing space utilization, functionality, and cost-effectiveness;
• Perform structural analysis and design calculations for camp buildings and infrastructure components, ensuring structural integrity, durability, and safety;
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems into camp designs, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance;
• Conduct quality assurance reviews and inspections throughout the design and construction phases, verifying compliance with design specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements;
• Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and construction personnel during the implementation phase, addressing design-related issues, changes, and unforeseen challenges;
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in camp accommodations design, incorporating relevant advancements into project designs and methodologies.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master’s degree or specialized training in camp accommodations design preferred;
• 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects and expertise in camp accommodations design for remote or temporary work environments;
• Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) and familiarity with relevant codes and standards;
• Fluent level of English (written and spoken).

OTHER DETAILS:

• Job Location: Remote / Smart working or Abu Dhabi office (UAE);
• Contract Duration: 1 year;
• Starting Date: June 2024.
