About Us: Global Pulse Confederation (GPC) represents all segments of the pulse industry value chain from growers, researchers, logistic suppliers, traders, exporters, and importers to government bodies, multilateral organizations, processors, canners, and consumers. Its membership includes 24 Associations and over 600 private sector members. GPC is based in Dubai and the US.

Job Description: We seek an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead our organization and drive its strategic growth. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for the pulse industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership and Vision: Provide strategic direction and vision for GPC, ensuring alignment with the organization's goals and mission to encourage the increased production and consumption of pulse crops worldwide as “smart crops for a sustainable future.”
  • Operational Excellence and Team Leadership: Ensure high operational efficiency and effectiveness across all functions within GPC to optimize resources and enhance overall performance. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within GPC staff.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Strategic Partnerships: Engage and develop partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders including private industry members, associations, government, non-governmental organizations, and others to foster collaboration and drive initiatives that benefit GPC members and the pulse industry.
  • Advocacy and Representation: Act as a prominent advocate for the pulse trade industry, representing GPC at various conventions, forums, events, and other activities to promote GPC as the apex body for pulses and pulses as sustainable, nutritious, and equitable crops.
  • Support the Free and Fair Trade of Pulses: Work with the Market Access Committee and industry leaders to harmonize global pulse trade practices and MRL standards, remove trade barriers, and enhance market access for pulses worldwide. Encourage governments and industry stakeholders to abide by the principles of the Colombo Accord and advocate for broader use of GPC Pulses Contract #1.
  • Financial Management and Financial Viability: Work with the Financial Manager to oversee financial management activities and ensure sound fiscal practices, budget adherence, and financial sustainability of GPC.
  • Company Documentation and Corporate Compliance: Implement and follow an audit compliance plan to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and completion of audit within 6 months of the financial year-end. Implement an internal system for maintaining Know Your Customer (KYC) records. Conduct an annual review of the Articles of Incorporation to verify their accuracy and make updates as necessary to reflect changes in company structure or regulations.
  • Communication and Public Relations: Develop and implement robust communication and public relations strategies to enhance GPC’s global visibility, reputation, and engagement with stakeholders through various channels such as industry publications, events, and media.
  • Conventions and Networking: In coordination with Convention Committee and Convention & Events staff, ensure the successful organization of annual international conventions, regional conventions, and networking events.
  • Board of Directors and Committee Management: Provide guidance and support to the Board of Directors and committees within GPC to facilitate their work in areas such as strategic planning, market access, membership, conventions, finance, and more.
  • Innovation and Special Projects: Drive innovation initiatives and oversee special projects that contribute to the advancement of the pulse trade industry globally.
  • Grant Funding Acquisition: Identify grant opportunities to fund projects that align with GPC’s objectives and advance the global pulses industry, particularly as relates to the sustainability of pulses and regenerative agriculture, and the ability of pulses to mitigate the impacts of food production on climate change.
  • Research and Development Support: Identify opportunities for research and development activities that contribute to increased production and consumption of pulse crops to address health, sustainability, and food security challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or appropriate related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of executive leadership experience, preferably in the agricultural or food industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful business strategies.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, financial planning, and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and lead a diverse team.
  • Familiarity with regional regulatory compliance and international trade regulations.
