About the business area, Group Compliance & Governance:

Compliance is an independent function at ADCB which takes an active approach to risk management and monitoring, ensuring the Bank complies with applicable laws, regulations, rules and market standards. The Group creates, implements and monitors policies and procedures designed to prevent or detect financial crime and any compliance breaches of the Bank, its employees and clients. It also monitors and measures the impact of conduct risk and compliance on the Bank’s risk appetite and profile.

In this role, your key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the compliance function and acting as the focal point for all compliance related initiatives.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders and business activities are in compliance with relevant regulations, and that company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across divisions to promote a culture of compliance.
  • Processes: Risk steward, enabling and protecting the bank and market integrity. Understanding the power of data and technology, encouraging teamwork, and adapting to various digital delivery methods.
  • Developing compliance strategy guides in line with stated priorities.
  • Representing Compliance on Governance forums, reporting and escalating issues to the CEO and the Board regularly.
  • Maintaining required Group reporting and supporting collaboration across the organization.
  • Overseeing local and foreign subsidiaries from a Compliance perspective.
  • Leading the creation of the overall compliance framework and maintaining compliance policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing the bank's compliance programs and documentation of compliance risk programs.
  • Maintaining and overseeing the bank AML and sanctions program.
  • Conducting periodic assurance reviews and compliance checks.
  • Establishing mechanisms for ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Safeguarding internal controls to minimize compliance risks.
  • Identifying compliance vulnerabilities and developing corrective action plans.
  • Collaborating with bank functions to direct compliance issues to appropriate channels.
  • Managing and resolving regulatory problems arising from compliance breaches.
  • Instituting an effective compliance communication program.
  • Ensuring effective operation of Financial Crime and Regulatory Compliance policies.
  • Directing and overseeing new product development initiatives.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of compliance files and registers.
  • Preparing quarterly MLRO’s report for review and escalation to CEO and Board of Directors.
  • Developing a compliance culture through training and ongoing communication with staff.

The ideal candidate should have the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s Degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Minimum of 11+ years of experience in Compliance, with 8 years in a relevant role and at least 4+ years managing large teams.
  • Experience in Anti-Money Laundering and Combating Terrorist Finances.
  • Knowledge of Compliance and Operational Risk Management.
  • Understanding of Regulatory and Compliance Requirements.
  • Experience in Managing Quality and Risk.
  • Knowledge of Business operations, products, and customers.
  • Retail banking knowledge is mandatory.
