Category Buyer

Job Summary:

The Category Buyer - Audio Visual will be responsible for sourcing, procurement, and category management of AV products, including but not limited to displays, projectors, conferencing systems, speakers, and accessories. The role requires strong negotiation skills, supplier relationship management, and market analysis to ensure the best value for the company. Prior experience working with Chinese suppliers and understanding of China’s supply chain dynamics are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies for the AV category to ensure competitive pricing and product availability.
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers, particularly in China, to establish cost-effective agreements while maintaining high-quality standards.
• Monitor industry trends and technological advancements to drive category growth and innovation.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve any supply chain issues that arise.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as sales, marketing, and logistics to align procurement with business needs.
• Analyze market data and sales performance to optimize inventory levels and pricing strategies.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and relevant regulations.
• Travel to China as needed for supplier visits, factory audits, and trade shows.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or category management, preferably in the AV or consumer electronics industry.
• Proven experience in sourcing and supplier management in China.
• Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills with Chinese suppliers.
• Knowledge of AV products, technologies, and industry trends.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
