Deliver Exceptional Patient Care– Apply and remove a variety of plaster casts independently while ensuring high standards of care for both inpatients and outpatients.
Collaborate with Multi-Disciplinary Teams– Work closely with nurses, doctors, and other hospital staff to provide seamless patient care across outpatient clinics, operating rooms, and emergency departments.
Maintain & Organize Supplies– Manage stock levels efficiently in the plaster room, clinic, and operating room to support smooth operations and financial control.
Ensure Safety & Compliance– Carry out risk assessments, maintain a safe clinical environment, and adhere to hospital policies to guarantee patient and staff well-being.
Assist in Wound Care & Monitoring– Remove sutures and wound clips, apply dressings, assess skin conditions before and after cast removal, and report any concerns to medical staff.
Educate & Support Patients– Provide guidance and written instructions to patients and caregivers on proper cast and splint care to aid in their recovery.
Maintain Equipment & Liaise with Vendors– Ensure proper maintenance of essential tools like plaster saws and coordinate with external companies for repairs and servicing.
Support in Emergency Situations– Respond quickly to emergencies, assist in patient transfers, and summon help when needed to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Document & Report– Accurately record patient care details, report incidents, and address concerns to maintain transparency and continuous improvement.
Contribute to Training & Development– Participate in clinical education, mentor staff, and support ongoing training in plaster application, care, and removal.
Qualifications
High secondary school or its equivalent
2+ years’ experience post certification in a relevant field
Experienced in the application of a range of plaster casts
Experienced in venipuncture
Certificate of completion of relevant training course.
