Job Description

Job Summary:

The Carpenter is responsible for maintaining and repairing furniture accessories and is expected to observe safe working practices while carrying out repair and maintenance of gypsum board, as well as the installation of cabinets and vanity counters.

Responsibilities:

1. Receive and follow day-to-day maintenance calls given by the Maintenance Manager.
2. Report the summary of jobs carried out for individual apartments and common areas, including all used spare parts and accessories.
3. Carry out general maintenance as per the schedule provided by the Maintenance Manager for carpentry and joinery work.
4. Repair and maintain kitchen cabinets, doors, and windows, including assembled accessories.
5. Perform new installation joinery work such as gypsum partitions, doors, windows, wardrobes, cabinets, etc.
6. Modify and troubleshoot any carpentry-related issues such as furniture assembly and dismantling.
7. Provide assistance to the team whenever requested to complete projects smoothly and safely.
8. Contribute to guest satisfaction standards by ensuring that technical support services are quickly addressed.
9. Study consumable spare parts for rectification and repair instead of replacement within limitations for saving and safety considerations.
10. Install wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists, and stud work.
11. Design and install cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall, and insulation.
12. Add fixtures and fittings such as door handles, locks, hinges, and closures.
13. Select lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to meet budget and style requirements.
14. Calculate the number of fasteners required for each job.

Desired Skill & Expertise

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in hospitality.
2. Experience in using hand and power tools such as drills, chisels, sanders, saws, and nail guns.
3. Proficiency in design, construction, and installation of frameworks, doors, cabinets, siding, furniture, flooring, walling, shuttering, and other wooden fixtures.
4. Fine finishing of woodworks including varnishing and painting.
5. Knowledge of building regulations and codes to be adhered to.
