Cardiovascular Technologist-Pediatric-Cardiology Services

Job Description

Performs all pediatric echocardiography scans using advanced ultrasound equipment and is competent in transthoracic echocardiogram on complex congenital heart disease in fetal, pediatric, and adult populations.

Responsibilities

1. Patient preparation and education.
2. Specialist in all pediatric echocardiography scans using advanced ultrasound equipment.
3. Competent in transthoracic echocardiogram on complex congenital heart disease in fetal, pediatric, and adult populations.
4. Ensure detailed findings are accurately documented and critical findings are reported in a timely manner.
5. Willing to teach junior staff, fellows, and students as required.
6. Observations of hemodynamics, structural and vascular cardiology investigations (where applicable).
7. Conducts cardiology investigations with correct management of hemodynamic, ultrasound, and mapping equipment (where applicable).
8. Demonstrates an understanding or desire to learn advanced imaging/recording techniques.
9. Prepares and interprets reports for physician review and sign-off.
10. Actively participates in departmental training, clinical audits, and improvement projects.
11. Helps develop team cohesiveness by assisting team members and aligning individual work efforts to meet work unit and organizational goals for service excellence.
12. Selection, management, and efficient use of appropriate consumables (inventory management).
13. Appropriate calibration and review of equipment with escalation of defects in line with facility-wide policy.
14. Meticulous and timely documentation and reporting within the patient medical record.
15. Prompt reporting and escalation of all cardiac critical results.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

1. Not less than 3 years of relevant pediatric sonography experience.
2. Current national license.

Educational Qualification Required

1. BSc Degree in Cardiovascular Program.
2. Completion of an accredited echocardiography, ultrasound, or cardiopulmonary technology program.
